To further study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on promoting the correct view of performance, and to advance the integration of theoretical learning with practical education, the Directly Affiliated Party Branch of the School of Statistics and Data Science organized a themed Party Day activity on promoting the correct view of performance. All faculty Party members and Party membership applicants participated in the activity.
Themed Party Lecture: Empowering Development through Data Science and Strengthening the Ideological Foundation
Liu Zhiyuan, Secretary of the Directly Affiliated Party Branch, delivered a themed Party lecture entitled “Data Science and the Correct View of Performance: Strengthening Ideological Guidance.” He noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on establishing and practicing the correct view of performance systematically answer the fundamental questions of “for whom achievements are made, what kind of achievements should be made, and how to make them,” providing fundamental guidance for the growth and development of Party members. He emphasized that young Party members in the new era should remain true to the Party’s original aspiration and founding mission, and use their professional expertise in data science to serve the people and society.
Faculty Party members noted that they would take the Party lecture as an opportunity to further strengthen their ideals and convictions, cultivate a strong commitment to serving the people, and let the correct view of performance guide their growth, striving to become a new generation of young people capable of shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation.
Practice in Shecun Village: Rooted in the Grassroots, Guided by Solid Work
To deepen the outcomes of the Party lecture, the Party Branch organized all faculty Party members and Party membership applicants to visit Shecun Village, located at the foot of Qinglong Mountain, for a practical learning activity. Shecun Village is a demonstration site for beautiful countryside development in Nanjing. In recent years, through ecological restoration, integrated cultural and tourism development, and digital governance, the village has transformed from a former quarrying village into a popular rural destination.
At the village Party-Mass Service Center, staff members introduced the development of Shecun Village along the main line of “what resources the village has, how empowerment is achieved, and what makes the village beautiful.” They explained how Shecun Village has developed a new path to rural revitalization, characterized by Party-building leadership, cultural empowerment, and industry-driven development.
The “Party lecture + practice” activity extended the correct view of performance from theory to practice. Participants said that the field visit to Shecun Village gave them a deeper understanding of “for whom achievements are made.” Only by truly going deep among the people, systematically understanding the development wisdom of seeking truth from facts and adapting measures to local conditions, and shouldering the responsibility that “success does not have to be achieved in my term, but I must contribute to its achievement,” can one truly write one’s papers on the land of the motherland.
Moving forward, the Directly Affiliated Party Branch will continue to strengthen ideological and political guidance, improve the mechanism for regular education on the correct view of performance, and rely on platforms such as themed micro Party lectures and Party Member Pioneer Posts to guide faculty and students to remain true to their original aspiration and enhance their capabilities while serving the national big data strategy and Jiangsu’s digital countryside development. The Branch will continue to cultivate the spirit of “gaining distinction through science and serving the country through talent,” devote itself with greater determination to building China into a leading country in education, science, and technology, and contribute to the development of Southeast University into a world-class research university with distinctive strengths.
